About Katy Miles
and the roots of Kindred Psychotherapy
I’d love to hear from you!
I’m Katy, a therapist and a licensed clinical social worker. I became a therapist because I have a deep interest in people, their stories, their quirks, their soft places—their messy humanity.
Before becoming a therapist, I studied and worked in journalism and gender studies. I bring the same curiosity that guided me as a journalist into the therapy room. That same fascination with the spectrum of gender, identity, and sexuality informs how I see my clients and sift through their experiences.
My therapeutic style and approach is rooted in the belief that in everything, people are searching for connection—to themselves, with others, and to their environment—and my practice is deeply informed by attachment theory.
In my office, you’ll be able to find comfort, space, trust, and relief. You’ll be able to create a new relationship with yourself, your body, and your loved ones. I’ll be right there with you through the process and work of healing. It’s not easy, but it is worth it, and you don’t have to do it alone.
When I meet clients for sessions, I show up as my full self—with respect, empathy, humor, and love. I am here to provide support and encouragement, and to challenge you to live your life in a way that feels genuine and congruent with who you are and want to be.
